Blackwork tattoos in Belgrade

Blackwork isn't a darker version of another style — it's built the opposite way round. Instead of adding detail with line and shade, I work in negative space: the composition is decided by what stays bare skin and what becomes solid black, so contrast does the job that outlines and gradients do everywhere else. Getting a fill genuinely solid — even saturation, no patchy grey undertone once it's healed — takes multiple passes at consistent depth and pressure across the whole shape, and that evenness is the actual skill a finished piece is hiding.

How it heals: A solid fill ages differently than a lined piece: the densest black at the centre of the field holds its depth the longest, and any softening shows up first at the very edge of the shape, not in the middle. That's the real reason the touch-up check sits at 6–8 weeks — it catches edge softening while it's still easy to correct, rather than patching ink that was never solid to begin with.
