Realism tattoos in Belgrade

Photorealistic portraits and detailed black-and-grey work by Olya — depth, light and texture drawn from your reference.

Realism is built in layers, not outlines. I work the piece in thin passes of black-and-grey wash, sometimes colour, packing tone gradually so the transition from shadow to highlight follows how light actually falls on skin, fur or fabric — rather than sitting inside a flat filled shape. There's no linework holding the image together the way there is in graphic or blackwork pieces: the whole thing reads through value and contrast alone, and for highlights I favour leaving skin bare over adding white ink, which is part of what keeps a portrait or animal piece looking dimensional rather than airbrushed.

How it heals: Because I lean on negative space rather than white ink for highlights, those areas won't yellow or migrate the way white ink can, so the contrast you see on day one stays closer to what's still there years later. The densest, most saturated passages — irises, dark fur, deep shadow — are usually the only areas worth a single touch-up after 12+ months, once the skin has fully settled and shown exactly how it held the ink.

About

Hi, I'm Olya.

I work in minimalist and fine-line tattoo styles, based in Belgrade, with over seven years of experience. I specialize in delicate, precise line work — from micro tattoos done with a single needle to abstract botanical compositions.

Each design is created from scratch for a specific individual. I don't use pre-made sketches — we discuss the idea, refine the design together, and place it in the desired location on your body.

My studio is a calm, private space in central Belgrade. We take the time the piece needs — no rush, no compromise on the line.

FAQ

Realism, answered.

Specific questions about how realism tattoos work — sessions, healing, pricing. Anything I haven't covered, ask me directly.

  1. Most realistic portraits take 2 to 4 sessions of 4–6 hours, depending on size, contrast and how detailed the reference is. Faces and animal portraits with rich texture usually need a second pass to push depth and let the skin settle first.

  2. Realism relies on soft gradients rather than hard outlines, so healing matters more than in graphic styles. With proper aftercare a piece keeps its depth for years; expect a gentle softening over time — that's normal and part of why I design contrast to last, not just to look sharp on day one.

  3. For faces, animals and most photo-references I recommend black-and-grey: it reads cleanly on every skin tone and ages more gracefully. Colour realism is beautiful for objects with strong hue identity (flowers, fruit, eyes) but needs slightly more skin real estate to breathe.

  4. Realism is usually quoted from €350 per half-day session because of the time and saturation work involved. The final price depends on size, placement and how many sessions we plan — we agree on the full quote together after the sketch is locked.

  5. Yes — and please do. The better the reference (sharp focus, good lighting, high resolution), the better the tattoo. If your photo is small or noisy I'll tell you upfront; sometimes we restage it before drawing.
